The City of Mobile was surrendered to Union Troop’s, on April 12th, 1865.



The Creole School, Mobile, Alabama 1861.


The Creole School existed to educate the “Creoles of Color”, which made up a prominent, but small sized portion of the Mobile and Mobile County population, in 1861. The Principal of the School was Mrs. L.M. Butler.

Mrs. Freda Roberts, First Female Revenue Commissioner, of Mobile, Alabama, Passes Away.


Freda Roberts the first woman elected to a county wide seat back in 1978, passed away today. She served the citizen’s of Mobile, for four 6 year terms, as Revenue Commissioner. She was preceded  in her death, by her husband of 49 year’s Mr. C.H. Roberts Jr. and is survived by her four children.  She was 73 year’s old. May She Rest In Peace.

The Town of Satsuma, Alabama, located in Mobile County, Alabama came into existence after petioning for a Charter of Incorporation, to both the County and State, in 1959. The first Municipal Election was held on April 6th, 1959.
